Kelly and her father are, thus far, the only members of the Sampson family who are shifters. Both Kelly and her father shift into burrowing owls.

Kelly could definitely be considered a shy girl. Those she gets close to, however, are friends for life. She is easily emotional, although usually her emotions manifest themselves as either a smile or tears (though she gets angry, she doesn't often "blow up"...rather, she just erupts in tears of frustration). She cares much about her studies, and when she's not studying, can often be caught daydreaming.

Kelly has olive skin with dark brown hair. Her eyes are the same shade as her hair, perhaps a bit lighter. She stands at about five foot five. Kelly is at average weight, perhaps a tad on the skinny side, at 135lbs. There is nothing at all threatening about her appearance, and she tends to dress casual, preferring to blend in with the general populace. When she is in her owl form, she has primarily brown underspots with white spotting. She is smaller in her owl form than her father (which only makes sense, due to her gender), though about average size for a female owl.

Kelly bit her lip, getting choked as she noticed Chelsea trying to honor Eli, but struggling to do so. She could certainly understand that. She looked up at Jared in shock when he let go of her hand and stood up. As he spoke, she could hear the emotion in his voice, and found a few tears slipping down her own cheeks. Eli had been a wonderful person to her as well. When Jared took a seat next to her once more, Kelly ran her hand over his, not sure if he would pull it back or hold it once more. She knew he'd been a bit distant lately, and she didn't blame him after the loss of Eli. She couldn't help but hope he'd grasp it back, though.
Kelly found herself on her feet, hardly aware of what she was doing. Though her heart was thumping in her chest and her ears were ringing, she pushed herself to go forward. She began in her usual small voice, "Eli was a wonderful person. Sh-she was willing to give everyone a chance, no matter how h-hopeless they seemed." She gave a wry smile at this, obviously referring to herself with this statement. "Sh-she was intelligent and kind, and whether you know it or not, she was a great asset to this club. I-I think we should find some way to honor her." Though Kelly's magic was on the fritz lately thanks to the strange illness going around the school, this was the Room of Requirement. Therefore, when Kelly pointed at the wall with her wand, the intended result came to be after all, thanks to the magic of the room. A picture of Eli appeared on the wall. She took her seat next to Jared once more, not looking at him but desperately wishing that he would make some sort of motion toward her. She needed it at this moment in time, but then, so did he.
