It’d been awhile since she had been to church, been awhile since the churning blue gaze had looked fondly on the stained glass windows. The youth had greatly missed the old building, missed its great peaks and magical interior. Pale hands pushed open heavy wooden doors, swinging them open only to cough as dust was inhaled. Using the sleeve of her jacket the dark haired girl wiped her mouth, turning her lips a light raspberry color. She shouldn’t be out here alone, the human knew this, it was dangerous for her kind to venture about with all the shifters running lose. But Channler knew she needed to get out of her stuffy little hiding hole and get the courage to go out like she used to when her father was still alive. It had been a few years since his death and each day she had hid in the shadows hoping that shifters wouldn’t get her scent. Ever since the human population had been swept away in the age of the Shape shifters everything had went horrid for the last remaining humans. Shifters thought themselves better, thought themselves more powerful then the human just because they could change form. Hah, Channler would show them.
The young lady picked her way easily through the debris of the old church towards one of the last remaining pews. She ran her fingers through her dark hair, twirling the strands as she went until she rested lightly on the crumbling pew. Channler missed the good old days when she didn’t have to watch her step but she might as well live out the rest of life doing whatever she pleased. So stretching out with a sigh the human laid down on the pew staring up at the ceiling itching for some action to come her way.
