her humaness allows the others to mistake as someone who is painfully shy and without a personality. like all streotypes, of course, it's not exactly true. she's silent out of neccesity; she's a human who basically goes to a zoo for school. not to mention that her neighborhood is filled to the brim with shifters, just the other day she caught a couple of birdshifters try to peep at her while she was showering. she's kept her bathroom window closed since then.
she doesn't hate the shifters, her brother is one, after all. and don't try that, "UR just JEALOUS!!!111!" crap on her, either. she's perfectly fine with being a human. other than that, she's a perfect example of the 'wise beyond her years' breed of adolescent. she reacts to everything like a chainsmoking grandmother in her sixties; she just doesn't give a crap.
okay, some things she does care about, like her brother and his health and her family's well-being. she also doesn't mind the idea of being a musician. not one of those, government controlled, talentless hacks; but an actual artist. she also has a fondness for kids and real animals. and jesus.

she was born in atlanta, georgia. a preemie, she was very sickly when she was born. her parents had almost decided on making a shifter, she would've been a housecat if they did. but they didn't. they saw how fast their little girl had recovered and on the fourth week, they were able to bring her home.
she lived a normal childhood. both of her parents were college professors. her brother, who is three years her senior, was the boss and decided what they should and shouldn't play, much to her dismay. she picked up the guitar at five and began the piano at ten, she decided that she wanted to be a musician. around the time she was finishing the fifth grade, her parents were offered jobs in the great city of ravmorte.
it wasn't until her family actually moved in when they realized why they were able to get such a nice house for a suspiciously low price. the neighborhood was home to a large populace of shifters. cat shifters, reptile shifters, they couldn't tell what was a real animal to a shifter, anymore. it was scary, to say the least.
at the same, her brother began to socialize with his shapeshifting peers and had less time for her and their parents. by the time he turned eighteen, he decided to go through with the procedure to become a shapeshifter. after that, he wasn't heard from again, minus celebrations or holidays. then after that, he left. he never gave phone number or a mailing address. she was told that he went to college in san francisco and that he lived with a mexican girl who would shift into a tiger. she was also told that he worked as a car repairman at a gas station in Texas and that his girlfriend was black and decided to become a horse.
still, she wouldn't mind spending time with him again, and she wished that he would talk more when ever they had dinner at christmas or thanksgiving. her life's at a turning point, now, and she would really like it if he were involed. but, for now, her gym partner's a monkey and he's pissing off the gym teacher.
